4-3-21: Flying Grain Silo's Can Land! (spoilers: it still blew up though).

I'm brewing a few blog posts that are taking a bit of work so for today I'll just write a little bit about SpaceX's crazy stainless steel cans that can sort of fly. I am by no means a real serious space geek but I do find this stuff really interesting. I think my passing interest turned into moderate fascination after I watched the first Falcon Heavy launch where they landed two out of three boosters first time up.

This is one of the video's of the flight last night (- the hours and hours of waiting for it to actually happen). It has my favourite amateur space commentator on it of course. The first two times they had high altitude tests the landings were not so well controlled so the big thing here was that they actually managed to get it on the ground again in one piece before the unscheduled rapid disassembly phase.

That this thing even exists is awesome and it is a great thing to keep track of on a passing basis. I am not sure there has been this much coverage of something like this during its development phase. There are some lessons in Agile development and a few other things to be had by following along. Plus watching things explode is always cool!

In other news, I booked my vaccination. It's about 10 days away for the first shot and then I'll get to be all paranoid over the side-effects for a few days. Anyway, just a short simple post today. I spent a bit too much time on the other future posts.

Oh, I found Burger Rings in the supermarket in Dubai. They are Australian ones but I hope they taste the same as home. I can eat junk tomorrow on my day off the diet so I will try!

Good news about the vaccination. Enjoy the burger rings. The emergency is over here today but just reminds us about nature’s forces.
