7-3-21: So Tired I Forgot the Title First Time!

Today's post is of the abbreviated type. Bit of a busy week ahead at work I feel and a few interesting things happening this week - stay tuned.


The highlight today, apart from the lovely working air conditioning, was our about fortnightly meat order. I found a place that is cheap or at least "Dubai cheap". Most of the meat is frozen but since we are cooking nearly all of it in the Sous Vide that is no issue. Today we got about 7 or 8 huge chicken breasts, 6 salmon fillets (large), 2 lamb shanks, 4 burger patties, 16 sausages, 4 packs of bacon and some pork chops. The freezer is looking pretty stocked. It is not the fanciest meat in Dubai, but it is about half the price of the next closest option and the quality is good.


We did have to have a vacuum-bag session to get it all ready to go. With the sous vide we can just chuck whatever protein in a couple of hours before lunch and it is good to go. I'm still the primary sucker in the house - still work in progress on training the other chef in the house for that gadget. A vacuum sealer is one of those things you never knew you need but never knew how you lived without one once you have it. Highly recommended.
