About a week ago I was talking to Anki and we were discussing if it was possible to foster a cat. I've always been opposed to getting animals while living as an ex-pat, as things can change very quickly and a commitment to an animal is for life. Anki did a bit of research and found an organisation that adopted out but also was looking for foster homes as well. That was a week ago and now we are looking after Gonzo!
Gonzo is a Persian I believe. He had a bit of a run-in with ringworm so had to have a visit to the vet and a bit of a hair cut before he came to us. The lady Anki got him from is some sort of serial cat rescuer and has 32 of her own! There were a lot of questions we had to answer and reassure her on before we were allowed Gonzo, or the G-Man as I am calling him. We also had to have a metal cat bowl & were given the specific foods he likes to eat.
Anki picked up Gonzo earlier today and after a relatively brief stink of hiding under the bed for about 90 minutes (and he was exploring out even then) he was exploring the room we have him in, eating and cuddling up with Anki on the bed. He is right at home already and a massive attention seeker.
I am sure over the coming few days and weeks, for as long as we have him (as if they find a forever-home for him, he will of course have to go), I am sure there will be some adventures of Gonzo posted here. I have a funny feeling he is a sleep-on-the-bed by your face sort of cat. He is not a loud cat from our first afternoon/evening with him but he is a cuddly cat and likes to explore. He is very interested in what is outside the room he is in. Tomorrow we will give him a little more of the house to explore.
Here are a few pictures from today.
I am not sure if we will be able to stick to this fostering business. It could easily turn into adoption. It's hard to not get attached.
Little cutie pie 🥧. Even tho he bit me and scratched me I like him ❤️
